PETALING JAYA: Sabah Bersatu has disputed the right of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to sign a political agreement to support the government of Anwar Ibrahim.

The party’s Sabah chief, Ronald Kiandee, said the party, a founding member of GRS, had never been involved in any discussions on the agreement, which was signed in Putrajaya yesterday.

The agreement was signed by former Sabah Bersatu chief Hajiji Noor, as chairman of GRS.

However, Kiandee questioned Hajiji’s position, saying he had been appointed as GRS chairman in his capacity as Bersatu’s Sabah chief, and the latter no longer had legitimacy having announced last week he was leaving Bersatu, together with other Sabah Bersatu leaders.

Kiandee contended that the political agreement to support Anwar’s unity government was invalid.

The agreement was signed by leaders of Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Warisan.

Anwar’s unity government has also received support from several other minor parties and independent MPs.
