Mirra Andreeva claimed her first Grand Slam title at the 2026 French Open, beating Maja Chwalinska in the women’s singles final.

The Russian teenager, who was 19 at the time, took down Polish qualifier Chwalinska 6-4, 7-6 to capture her first major championship.

Andreeva handled herself well after the win, and she has since received praise from former world number one Kim Clijsters.

On the latest episode of ‘Love All’, Clijsters was asked if she thinks Andreeva’s win will take pressure off her or add more expectation.

Kim Clijsters highlights Mirra Andreeva’s respectful behaviour after French Open final

“I think it will free her up, but I also think, just by going off her reaction, she looks so motivated to be like, bring on the next one,” said Clijsters. “I am ready now!”

That is the feeling that I have. She looked so composed. For somebody who we have seen be so emotional on the court, her emotions when she won were so calm. It was like, let me be respectful to my opponent; it was very under control.

“It was really nice to see. I love that relationship with them,” said Clijsters.

I just love seeing a female coach do well and someone who has done it before herself. It is really great to see.

What’s next for Mirra Andreeva after winning the French Open?

Andreeva was scheduled to return at the Berlin Open, but those plans have changed. On Thursday, she confirmed her withdrawal from the tournament.

“My team and I have decided to take more time to rest, recover, and better prepare for grass. I’ll miss the time in Berlin. Hope to be back next year!” said Andreeva.

It’s a sensible call, giving herself more time before getting back on court. So where will we see her next?

The expectation is that she’ll play at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany next week instead. Jessica Pegula won last year’s Bad Homburg title over Iga Swiatek, while Andreeva exited in the quarter-finals to Linda Noskova.

After that event, all focus will shift to Wimbledon. Andreeva made it as far as the quarter-finals last year and will be aiming to go even further this time around. This year’s Championships get underway on June 29th.
