Kim Kardashian was awarded symbolic compensation of 1 euro ($1.15) by a Paris court on Tuesday following her 2016 armed robbery in the French capital, matching the precise amount she had requested, according to a lawyer involved in the ongoing legal proceedings.
The US celebrity has attempted to move forward since eight individuals were convicted last year over their involvement in what she previously described as "the most terrifying experience of my life."
A former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where Kardashian was staying when targeted by the robbery gang, was awarded 109,516 euros ($126,472), according to statements made by his own legal counsel.
The worker stated he was traumatised by the heist during Paris Fashion Week on 2 October 2016. Having sought 550,000 euros ($634,868) in damages and interest, his lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, hailed the ruling as a victory.
The lawyer also read aloud the court's written decisions relating to Kardashian and others to The Associated Press.
The hotel was granted 50,000 euros ($57,741) by the court. Simone Bretter, Kardashian's stylist present inside during the raid, was awarded 1 euro — matching the exact figure she requested.
French lawyers representing Kardashian throughout the criminal trial did not answer telephone calls or text messages from the AP this week.
Two of the thieves, dressed as police officers, forced their way into her suite, bound Kardashian with zip ties and tape and fled with over $6 million in stolen jewellery, including a diamond ring she had worn that night to a Givenchy show.
Due to their ages, the thieves became known in France as "les papys braqueurs," or the grandpa robbers. Six of them were in their 60s and 70s when tried for armed robbery, kidnapping, gang association and other formal legal charges.
Having already served time in pre-trial detention, none of those convicted returned to prison, nor did any appeal against the court's decision.
In a statement released afterwards, Kardashian said she was "deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case."
"The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family," the celebrity said. "While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system."
