
HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, departed for Saint Petersburg, Russia today, for a special visit extending from 25 to 27 January, sources confirmed.
The royal visit is being undertaken at the personal invitation of His Excellency Vladimir V. Putin, President of the Russian Federation, highlighting the continued diplomatic ties and cooperation between Malaysia and Russia.
Earlier this morning, a special aircraft carrying His Majesty departed from the Royal Hangar at Senai International Airport in Johor at 8.25 am, marking the commencement of the state visit.
Also present to see off the King were His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail, the Regent of Johor, and His Royal Highness Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Temenggong of Johor, who accompanied the departure to convey their royal well-wishes.
The visit is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations, exploring opportunities for cooperation, and enhancing mutual understanding between Malaysia and the Russian Federation. - January 25, 2026
