HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, King of Malaysia, received Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Legal Affairs and Institutional Reform, at the national capital today.

According to a post on the official Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim, the King was presented with a briefing by Azalina on current legal issues within Malaysia.

The discussion also touched on initiatives to strengthen governance and institutional reforms aimed at combating corruption.

Sultan Ibrahim emphasised the enduring importance of safeguarding the constitution and maintaining the rule of law.

“The people are entitled to feel disappointed when authorities are found to be abusing their positions and engaging in corruption,” he said.

The monarch highlighted that protecting these fundamental aspects of the nation, as enshrined in the Rukun Negara, is critical.

“The preservation of these two elements is extremely important as it directly affects the public’s trust in the integrity of governance and the administration of the country,” Sultan Ibrahim added.

The audience underscored Malaysia’s commitment to reinforcing the principles of good governance and transparency, reflecting the ongoing efforts of the government to implement institutional reforms and strengthen public confidence in national institutions. - January 9, 2025
