KUALA LUMPUR – The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has called for a zero-tolerance culture against corruption and abuse of power within the leadership of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).

The King said the strength of a defence force does not rest solely on assets and technology, but on integrity, transparency and accountability, which are essential for maintaining public trust.

“All members of the MAF must uphold high discipline and make the rejection of corruption a continuous work culture for the sake of the nation’s sovereignty and interests,” His Majesty said in a post on the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page today.

The advice was conveyed during an audience granted to the newly appointed Chief of Defence Force, General Datuk Malek Razak Sulaiman, at Istana Negara.

Malek, previously the Western Field Commander of the Army, was appointed as the 24th Chief of Defence Force, effective February 1.

He holds a diploma in strategic and security studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, a Master of Arts in defence studies from King’s College London, and a Master of Social Sciences in defence studies from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.– February 4, 2026
