National women’s single’s player, S. Kisona, has decided to leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) today (December 19) as she’s looking to focus on recovery and requires a more flexible schedule to continue her career in badminton.

According to a report by Astro Awani, the 24-year-old believes she will prosper as a professional player.

“I want to leave BAM to focus on the rehabilitation of my leg because I had an operation a year ago. So far, the injury is minor so maybe I can recover in 3 weeks, 2 weeks or even a week,”

“I need to have a discussion with the rehabilitation center. If the recovery is quick, I can return to tournaments and focus on training for the Paris Olympics 2024. The first tournament is not known yet, there will be plans,” she said.

BAM Coaching Director Wong Choong Hann shared that this year has been quite a tough one on Kisona.

“Her injury history this years created a challenge for her not only in terms of the progress of her badminton career but also emotionally. Kisona has also been bullied on social media,” he said.

We, of course, wish Kisona nothing but the best with her recovery and her plans to go professional. We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her!

Stay tuned for more updates.
