BINTULU: Direct AirAsia flights linking Kota Kinabalu with Bintulu and Sibu will resume in November, according to Bintulu MP Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing (pic).In a statement on Facebook, Tiong said the Kota Kinabalu-Bintulu service will resume on Nov 1 with three flights weekly, followed by the Kota Kinabalu-Sibu route on Nov 2 with four flights weekly.
He said both routes will use Airbus A320 aircraft, with tickets available for sale since Sept 2.
Tiong said the resumption followed several engagements with AirAsia, during which he raised the need to restore the routes to improve connectivity between Sabah and Sarawak.
He said the direct services would benefit those travelling for work, education, business, tourism, medical needs and family visits, while urging AirAsia to ensure reliable services and maintain reasonable fares as far as market conditions allow.
