Malaysia Day: TYT calls for action on MA63

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s rights and interests under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), including the 40pc revenue entitlement, must continue to be addressed through sincere and constructive engagement, said Head of State Tun Musa Aman (pic). In his Malaysia Day 2026 message, Musa said Sabah and Sarawak were integral partners in the Federation whose contributions and aspirations must continue to be recognised as Malaysia moves forward.

He said much remained to be done in Sabah, particularly in addressing development gaps involving basic infrastructure, reliable water and electricity supply, roads and connectivity, healthcare, education and economic opportunities.

“A stronger and more prosperous Sabah ultimately means a stronger and more prosperous Malaysia,” he said, stressing that development must reach every district, town, village and rural community.

Musa also called on Malaysians and political leaders to safeguard racial and religious harmony, saying political advantage should never be pursued by exploiting racial or religious sentiments and that Sabah’s tradition of tolerance and mutual respect must be protected.
