Deputy PM Ahmad Zahid says PuTERA35 implementation is being intensified via MARA-TERAJU collaboration, with 44.5% progress on 132 initiatives already achieved.
SEREMBAN: The Rural and Regional Development Ministry is intensifying implementation of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this is being done through strategic collaboration between MARA and the Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit.
“MARA is working with TERAJU to empower PuTERA35, which runs from 2025 to 2035,” he told reporters at a programme here.
He said 132 initiatives for Bumiputeras in the economic field have been identified.
Progress reached 44.5% as of December 31 last year, with another nine years to achieve full implementation.
A Bumiputera agenda empowerment section has been established in each ministry to monitor progress.
This involves all Government-Linked Companies and Government-Linked Investment Companies.
Ahmad Zahid said the MARA-TERAJU collaboration also aims to list potential Bumiputera companies on Bursa Malaysia.
Three companies were listed last year, while five are targeted for listing this year.
“Hopefully, this number will grow by 2035 as these companies receive guidance, encouragement, and loan facilities,” he said.
He was speaking after the ‘Road to Ramadan’ programme at the Kariah Pantai Mosque.
During the event, he presented RM18,000 in donations to nine mosques and RM3,000 to three suraus.
Contributions were also given to orphans and the asnaf in Mukim Pantai.
In a separate development, Ahmad Zahid said the first meeting of the Ummah Consultative Council is expected during Ramadan.
It will involve 11 clusters including political parties, Islamic NGOs, professionals, and scholars.
The council will serve as a platform to obtain strategic feedback to guide the government.
Regarding the cancelled Gerakan Anti-Rumah Anutan Haram rally, he urged all parties to act with wisdom.
“There are rules set by the Cabinet. Guidelines have been coordinated for all relevant parties to follow,” he said.
He stressed the government is very concerned about the issue and all must adhere to proper procedures.
