KLSCM2026

Good news for runners gearing up for the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) 2026: the event will officially proceed this weekend following improvements in air quality.

In its latest race update, KLSCM said the Full Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, IHH 10km and 5km categories will take place as scheduled.

However, the Kids Dash races have been cancelled after discussions with relevant parties, including co-organiser Kuala Lumpur City Hall and title sponsor Standard Chartered Malaysia.

Organisers said the decision was made “in the best interests of the children”, adding that health and safety had to take priority over allowing them to run in less than ideal conditions.

KLSCM said it appreciated the patience shown by runners throughout the recent haze situation, but acknowledged that conditions were still not perfect.

Parents of Kids Dash participants can collect their child’s race entitlement by bringing the race bib to the Information Counter at Dataran Merdeka on Oct 3 from 8am to 12pm.

Organisers will continue monitoring conditions

KLSCM also reminded runners to consider their own health before deciding whether to participate, particularly those with underlying medical conditions.

Organisers said conditions will continue to be monitored throughout Saturday, with hopes for more favourable weather by Sunday.

The Race Entry Pack Collection and Active Lifestyle Expo will also continue at MITEC as planned.

Air quality has improved significantly

The decision comes as air quality across most of Malaysia improved on Oct 2.

As of 9am, Seri Manjung in Perak was the only location nationwide recording unhealthy air quality, with an API reading of 108. The remaining 62 monitoring areas recorded moderate readings, while five were in the good range.
