KLUANG, Oct 30 — The Kluang Municipal Council (MPK) will investigate an incident where its public message LED display system in several locations were hacked, resulting in displaying an obscene video last night.

The municipal council said it has since lodged a police report to facilitate further investigation into the embarrassing incident.

“A comprehensive investigation is being undertaken in collaboration with the screen’s vendor to identify the main cause of the incident.

“This is in addition to implementing remedial measures and strengthening the system's security,” said a brief statement issued today.

MPK also apologised for any inconvenience caused to the Kluang community following the incident.

Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said he had received a report regarding the incident.

“For your information, the MPK's LED system was hacked and the council has taken proactive measures by shutting down all LED screens under its jurisdiction,” he said briefly when contacted by the media today.

Earlier, the offensive incident was captured on a Facebook reel that have since been taken down.

The video also contained a watermark that credited the Leakers.Gov cyber hacking group.

In the short video, the public were taken aback where the LED screen displayed the obscene images. This later sparked concern among the public.

It is understood that there were other reports of similar embarrassing incidents involving MPK’s LED screens, including Dataran Tasik Kluang, Taman Intan and the area along the route towards Kahang.
