TAWAU: A 43-year-old woman suspected of injuring a 10-year-old boy with a knife in an incident at the People’s Housing Project (PPR) Batu 8, Jalan Apas, has been arrested.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the incident came to light when the victim’s aunt, 43, was contacted by her mother-in-law around 6.10pm, informing her that the boy’s hand was covered in blood.

AdvertisementAccording to him, the victim sustained an injury to his left hand while trying to avoid being stabbed by the suspect. “The victim was reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment at Tawau Hospital,” he said, Sunday.

He said the suspect was arrested at 3.30pm on Friday in the housing area by a team of officers and personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), Tawau District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Read more Jasmin said initial investigations found that the suspect had no relationship with the victim, and the exact motive for the attack is still under investigation. “The suspect is currently in remand for further investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injury with a dangerous weapon,” he said.

He urged the public to refrain from making speculations that could disrupt the police investigation into the incident.
