
Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan has called for immediate government intervention to address persistent flooding issues in Kolombong, highlighting the area’s critical role in Sabah’s economy and the increasing frequency of disruptive flood events.
Kota Kinabalu Warisan Information Division Chief Samuel Wong and Yong Tain Vui who is political assistant to Datuk Darell Leiking, pointed out how recent flooding has paralysed the industrial area, with even four-wheel-drive vehicles unable to navigate the waterlogged roads, resulting in hours-long traffic congestion.

“The situation has deteriorated to the point where even brief rainfall triggers flooding,” they said.

They said reports indicate persistent clogging issues even during dry periods, while residential areas face similar drainage problems that increase flash flood risks.

“The current government’s flood mitigation projects have failed to deliver meaningful improvements for Kolombong residents and businesses,” they said.
