Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has told teammate Virgil van Dijk about his ambitions.
The French centre half informed his senior colleague and captain that he wants to achieve more at Liverpool than Van Dijk has managed.
The 24-year-old is becoming a regular for the club under Jurgen Klopp next to Van Dijk in defense, but has experienced injury issues.
Konate has started two Premier League games this season, coming off the bench in three.
"Very few defenders have managed to do what he did, he is a very great defender with whom I am learning a lot," he stated while on international duty.
"Now my goal, and he knows it, is to become better than him. (Sergio) Ramos, who I followed a lot, was my number one role model."
