KOTA BELUD: A mother and her son sustained injuries in a house fire in Kampung Pangkalan Abai, here, early Monday.
The mother, Nur Uqasha Abdullah, 29, who works as a housekeeper, suffered burns while her son, Muhamad Syafiq Rizki, 3, had breathing problems from smoke inhalation.
Kota Belud District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Syazwan Latun said they received the distressed call at 10.57am.
He said a total of 10 personnel including Auxiliary Fire Officers rushed to the scene.
Firemen found a room was 30 per cent destroyed upon arrival.
Members of the public send the victims to the Kota Belud hospital to receive further treatment.
“The fire was also successfully extinguished by the public. The fire brigade carried out an inspection at the location to prevent other dangers,” he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation as operations ended at 11.50am.
