
Kota Kinabalu: Tamu Besar Kota Belud is being held for three days starting October 25, said Deputy State Secretary Datuk Diyanah Abdullah.
She said the Tamu Besar would attract a large number of people to come together to celebrate the programme.
“The Tamu Besar in Kota Belud will be held from Oct 25 to 27, this year.
“We expect more than 50,000 visitors to attend this Tamu Besar and all the scheduled days have been arranged in a very interesting way by highlighting what is unique in Kota Belud.

“We, as the main committee, would like to invite the public as well as those from the peninsula and abroad to come together and celebrate this Tamu Besar, this time,” she said after paying a courtesy call to Sabah’s Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at the Istana Seri Kinabalu, on Wednesday.
She said the Tamu Besar this time would be special and showing some differences compared to the previous years and it had been included in Sabah’s Tourism Calendar as one of the attractions for tourists to come to Sabah, especially in Kota Belud.
“Many events have been arranged including traditional ones such as buffalo racing and a decorated horse show that only exists in Kota Belud, which is one of the uniqueness of the district.
“Likewise with its handicrafts that are different from other districts. Kota Belud has its own uniqueness,” Diyanah said.
Also present were the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Fairuz Renddan who is also Pintasan Assemblyman and Chairman of Sabah Softwood, Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari who is also Tempasuk Assemblyman.
Earlier, Tun Juhar received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia led by its Deputy Director, Dr Vigneswari Subramaniam.
The visit aimed to discuss the HPV vaccination programme and cancer screening in Sabah.
