
Kota Kinabalu: An elderly couple escaped with only injuries after the Honda Jazz they were travelling in crashed and caught fire at Taman Ria, Phase 1, here, Friday afternoon.
The two, in their 60s, were sent to hospital by members of the public before the fire and rescue personnel arrived.
A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Sabah Operations Centre, here, said they received a call at 5.42pm and seven members and machinery from the Lintas Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the scene of the incident.
Upon arriving at the location, the vehicle was completely burnt. The firefighters brought the fire under control at 5.59pm.

He said the driver previously hit a pole and continued to accelerate the vehicle, crashing onto the front of their neighbour’s house before the vehicle caught fire.
