Kota Kinabalu police arrest seven teen girls over alleged bullying

KOTA KINABALU – Police have arrested seven teenage girls believed to be involved in an instance of gang bullying, here, today, after they had allegedly assaulted a teenage girl from the same school.

Kota Kinabalu district police chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said six of the suspects are from the same secondary school in Inanam here, while a 17-year-old suspect is a former student of the school.

The video of the alleged assault had gone viral on social media yesterday, showing a group of teenage girls beating up the victim.

Earlier in the 21-second video, a girl was seen locking the victim’s head with her arms while another girl punched the victim’s back repeatedly.

The victim fell to the ground, but the group proceeded to take turns stomping on the victim.

Zaidi said that police are investigating the case following a report lodged by the victim’s father.

“Police take this matter very seriously and will not compromise with any form of bullying or violence, especially involving students,” he said in a statement today.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code. – The Vibes, July 9, 2022
