Kota Kinabalu: Police are investigating a bullying and physical assault case involving two primary school pupils who are siblings, allegedly committed by a male schoolmate.
Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Abdul Rahman said the father of the two siblings lodged a report on Tuesday (July 7) claiming his children were harassed and attacked by the boy.
Investigations found the first incident happened on Monday (July 6), when a 12-year-old girl was allegedly kicked at the back of her head by a schoolmate.
The next day her younger brother was allegedly kicked in the abdomen by the same boy.
The girl suffered headaches while her brother was left traumatised and afraid.
The father also claimed the suspect regularly harassed both children through abusive calls and physical disturbance in class since the start of the school session.
Police are working to identify the suspect and are recording statements from the victims, witnesses, teachers and school administrators.
Medical checks were carried out on the victims.
Syed Lot said police took a serious view of bullying and violence involving children and would carry out a transparent investigation.
He urged the public not to speculate or spread information that could affect the probe or expose the children’s identities.
