Kota Kinabalu’s cases nearly double

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s caseload rose to 178 on Thursday from 152 the day earlier, with cases in Kota Kinabalu accounting for nearly half of the caseload, said State Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

One death was recorded in Ranau.

“Cases in Kota Kinabalu nearly doubled, from 45 the day before to 83 on Thursday, which is 46.6 per cent of the caseload,” he said in a statement, Thursday.

He added that although the test samples decreased from 2,238 the day before to 2,155 on Thursday, the positivity rate increased from 8.22 per cent to 8.86 per cent.

Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 83 cases, followed by Kota Marudu (15), Tawau (15), Tuaran (13), Penampang (10), Sandakan (9) and Kudat (6).

“Seven districts did not record any new infections,” he said.

He said 177 out of 178 cases were category one and two infections, while one case was recorded in category three.

No new clusters were identified.
