Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu recorded 52 new Coovid-19 cases on Thursday, making it the major contributor to the 99 cases reported in Sabah.
Penampang was second on the list with 19 cases, followed by Sandakan (12) and Papar (6).
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said 77 per cent of Kota Kinabalu’s cases were sporadic infections.
“As a centre of economic and social activities with a high population, the spread of the virus is easier and faster among urbanites of Kota Kinabalu, especially in crowded public places,” he said in a statement, Thursday.
However, he said the number of districts recording a decrease was higher, with 11 recording a decrease compared to five that recorded a rise.
“Fifteen districts did not record any new infections,” he said, adding no deaths or new clusters were identified.
Masidi said 97 out of 99 cases were category one and two infections, while one case was each recorded in category three and four.
