Kotikula, Kukreti seal Hilado J60 World Tennis final showdown

MANILA, Philippines — Second seed Ryu Kotikula of Thailand marched to the final after beating Aaradhya Mhasde, 6-0, 6-4, Saturday in the first leg of the Oscar J. Hilado J60 World Tennis Championship at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

The 17-year-old Kotikula, ranked No. 675, will face unseeded Daksh Kukreti of India, who prevailed over compatriot and seventh seed Ribhav Saroha, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.

In the girls division, top seed Yerin Lee of Korea defeated Sorvisa Kulphisanrat of Thailand, 6-1, 6-2, to forge a title showdown with Taylah Lessue of Australia in the  the event offering World Tennis (formerly International Tennis Federation) points.

The second-seeded Lessue downed fourth seed Seojin Park, 6-4, 6-3.

Now on its 18th edition, the  annual tournament has been renamed in honor of the late PHINMA Corp. Chairman Emeritus Oscar J. Hilado in recognition of his lifelong support for and contributions to Philippine tennis.

Past champions include Alexandra Eala, Francis Casey Alcantara, John Bryan Otico, Arthur Craig Pantino, Khim Iglupas, Tennielle Madis and Stefi Marithe Aludo. TMT
