Authorities seize 800 litres of diesel from a modified lorry lacking proper permits in a Johor Bahru operation, with an estimated seizure value of RM20,716.
JOHOR BAHRU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has foiled an attempt to misappropriate 800 litres of diesel.
The operation took place at a petrol station near the Pasir Gudang Highway.
Johor KPDN director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the Enforcement Patrol Unit detected and inspected a suspicious lorry.
The inspection revealed the vehicle had been modified with two pump units.
These pumps were connected directly from the lorry’s original tank to an additional Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) tank. The IBC tank was found in the vehicle’s storage area.
“The IBC is believed to contain about 800 litres of diesel fuel,” Lilis Saslinda stated. The lorry driver, a man in his 40s, failed to produce valid documents for the fuel.
He could not provide a special permit for storing or purchasing diesel. A statement was taken from him for investigation purposes.
The total value of the seizure is estimated at RM20,716. The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
