Two 16-year-old boys were charged at the Kuala Pilah Magistrate’s Court with causing the death of a 14-year-old Form Two student at a school hostel.

KUALA PILAH: Two 16-year-old boys were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with causing the death of a Form Two male student at a secondary school hostel here last month.

No plea was recorded from either accused after the charge was read out before Judge Roslinda Razali, who presided as a Magistrate, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

According to the charge, the two boys are jointly charged with causing the death of the 14-year-old student between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm last Sept 25 at a hostel of a secondary school here.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 304 of the same Act, which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment for between 30 and 40 years upon conviction, and if not sentenced to death, they are liable to whipping of not less than 12 strokes of the cane.

The court set Dec 7 for mention.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Engku Ahmad Rashdi Engku Abdillah appeared for the prosecution, while lawyer Datuk Hanif Hassan represented the two accused.
