Kurukshetra SP Chander Mohan on Friday held a Janta Darbar at Babain police station and directed police personnel to improve coordination between the police and citizens to ensure timely resolution of public grievances.
As per a Kurukshetra police spokesperson, nearly 12 complaints were received. Residents raised issues related to cheating, false complaints, snatching, inaction on complaints, misuse of documents and land disputes during the Janta Darbar.
The SP addressed several complaints on the spot and directed the DSP and SHO to take necessary action.
He also inspected the police station and issued instructions regarding cleanliness and record-keeping. He held a meeting with investigating officers posted at the station to review pending complaints and ongoing cases.
The SP said he will conduct a Janta Darbar at a police station every week, with the objective of ensuring impartial and transparent resolution of public grievances.
Speaking to journalists, the SP described the initiative as a multi-purpose programme. He said it not only facilitates the redressal of public grievances but also enables effective inspection and supervision of police station functioning, daily operations and pending cases.
The aim, he said, is to resolve issues on the spot and strengthen communication between the police and the public.
He also appealed to citizens to support the anti-drug campaign being run by the Kurukshetra police. He said that while the police are actively arresting drug traffickers, awareness campaigns are also being conducted to educate the public.
He urged people to inform the police if they notice anyone involved in drug consumption or trafficking in their area so that the menace can be eliminated from the root. He added that public cooperation is essential to completely eliminate the drug problem.
