Samantha Busch has shared a heartfelt message about her son Brexton’s return to racing following the death of Kyle Busch last month.
The wife of the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion opened up in an Instagram post, describing the mixed emotions she felt as her son returned to the sport he loved with his father.
While the pain of Kyle’s loss remains fresh, Samantha also explained that racing has become one of the few places where the family still feels close to him. The post quickly resonated with fans and generated thousands of reactions across social media.

Samantha Busch opens up on Brexton’s return to racing
Brexton returned to competition less than a month after losing his father. For Samantha, every visit to the racetrack brings both difficult reminders and comforting memories.
She explained that there are moments when she sees Kyle’s personality reflected in their son. Those similarities have made Brexton’s return to racing an emotional experience for the entire family.
“Watching Brexton back at the track is both heartbreaking and beautiful all at once. There are moments when I catch a glimpse of Kyle in him — the same determination, the same passion, the same spark — and for a second it feels like a piece of him is still right here with us. I promised him that I would do everything I could to help our children pursue their dreams no matter what. For Brexton, that dream is racing. It wasn’t a dream Kyle chose for him. It was something they shared. They spent countless hours talking about race cars, working together, dreaming together, and building a bond around something they both genuinely loved.”
Samantha made it clear that racing was never something Kyle pushed onto Brexton. Instead, she described it as a passion that developed naturally through the time they spent together around the sport.
Why racing still provides comfort for the Busch family
As the Busch family adjusts to life without Kyle, Samantha admitted that many parts of daily life still feel unfamiliar. The racetrack, however, remains one of the few places where they continue to feel connected to him.
She also revealed that the family recently purchased a go-kart for four-year-old Lennix. Samantha said they will support both children if they choose to pursue racing, even though the journey now looks very different without Kyle by their side.
“If Lennix wants to get behind the wheel … it won’t be the same as having Kyle by her side, but we will do our absolute best. Right now, when so much of our world feels unfamiliar, it’s also one of the few places that still feels like home. Every time we get to the track, we’re reminded that a piece of our team is missing. The person who should be standing beside us isn’t there. That part is heartbreaking. But it’s also where we feel closest to him. So, we race on.”
Those final words captured the message at the heart of Samantha’s post. Even as the family continues to grieve, they remain determined to honour Kyle’s memory by supporting the dreams he helped inspire.
