Kyler Murray addresses Cardinals fans after release news

Murray is expected to be released at the start of the new NFL league year, unless a trade materialises beforehand. The move would bring an end to his seven-year stint with the franchise.

In response to the reports, Murray shared a public message on X for the Cardinals fanbase, apologizing for not delivering the results they had hoped for.

“To everyone that supported me and showed kindness to my family and I during my time in AZ, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

“I wanted nothing more than to be the one to end the 77-year drought for this organization. I am sorry I failed us.”

“I wish this community and my brothers nothing but the best. I truly believe my best ball is in front of me and I look forward to proving it.”

The quarterback said he remains confident that his best football is still ahead as he prepares for the next chapter of his career.

Kyler Murray’s time with the Cardinals comes to a close

Murray was selected first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft following a standout college career at Oklahoma. He quickly became the face of the franchise in his early years.

During his time in Arizona, Murray was selected to two Pro Bowls and signed a lucrative five-year contract extension in 2022.

However, injuries in recent seasons limited his availability, and the Cardinals made just one playoff appearance during his tenure—a loss in the 2021 wild-card round.

Murray leaves Arizona with a 38-48-1 record as the starting quarterback, now set to seek a fresh start elsewhere in the league.
