Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to prepare a comprehensive and time-bound roadmap to transform Dwarka, Rohini and Narela into major investment and economic hubs, officials said.
During a recent meeting with senior DDA officials, the L-G reviewed developmental initiatives aimed at attracting both domestic and international investment to the three sub-cities. Officials said the focus would be on promoting sectors such as non-polluting IT and IT-enabled services, healthcare, global capability centres (GCCs), digital infrastructure industries, data centres, semiconductor units and warehousing facilities.
Dwarka, in particular, is being seen as a potential decentralised economic hub due to major infrastructure developments, including the operationalisation of the Urban Extension Road (UER), expanding Metro connectivity, the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) policy, upcoming educational hubs and the presence of large investment-ready land parcels with the DDA.
The area has also gained prominence due to the Yashobhoomi convention centre and the proposed diplomatic enclave, besides improved road connectivity with the airport.
