Byron Scott, a three-time NBA champion with the Lakers, shared his perspective during a recent appearance on Power 106 in Los Angeles.
The former guard took issue with James’ comments, comparing eras before delivering a firm assessment of his future with the team.
“I just thought it was laughable coming from one of the greatest players to ever play the game to say it’s harder to play now than it was then.”
“I’m a fan, but I don’t mince words either. I think this should be his last year here. You don’t got to go home, but you got the h— up out of here.”
Scott later clarified that his comments were directed at James’ tenure in Los Angeles rather than his overall NBA career.

James’ deal is set to expire at season’s end, which could provide the Lakers with substantial cap room. The organisation is reportedly focused on maintaining flexibility as it shapes the roster around Doncic.
