MANILA, Philippines — A student of De La Salle University fell to her death from a building in its campus on Vito Cruz, Manila, police confirmed on Thursday.
According to Manila Police District, the 18-year-old, whose identity has been witheld, fell from the ledge on the 10th floor of the Enrique M. Razon Sports Complex.
Witnesses said before the incident, school authorities were alerted to the scene by concerned individuals.
The duty doctor of the university immediately responded but the victim was later declared dead on the spot.
The case has been referred to the MPD homicide section for proper disposition,
In a statement, DLSU confirmed that they have reached out to the parents of the unnamed student and were now coordinating with the authorities.
It also said that the students in the area have been debriefed and were now undergoing counseling.
DLSU urged the public to cooperate in maintaining a "supportive and compassionate environment" out of respect for the student and the family's privacy.
