Labor group links Ninoy Day to corruption, wage issues

MANILA, Philippines — A labor group on Friday linked the 43rd anniversary of former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.’s assassination to alleged corruption in government projects, political dynasties and the ongoing dispute over the Metro Manila minimum wage hike.

Partido Manggagawa Chairperson Renato Magtubo said that the issues surrounding corruption and political power remain relevant decades after Ninoy’s death.

The group called for accountability in the alleged flood control scam, passage of an anti-political dynasty law and the lifting of the injunction against Wage Order 27.
