LABUAN: Labuan Chinese Chamber President Datuk Wong Kii Yii was echoing sentiments of Labuan residents when he called for priority in appointments to top posts on the island go to local-borns as there is no shortage of qualified candidates.

Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce (LCCC) Secretary-General Calvin Hii Lu Hin said Wong did not object to the final decision on who should be appointed for such post.

He said appointment to top posts from GLCs can come and go, but adopting “Labuanisation” would provide opportunities for experienced Labuanites to hold such posts, instead of blocking their opportunities to grow with the island’s development.
