Two familiar icons from very different worlds meet in Lacoste’s latest collaboration, as the French fashion and sportswear label joins forces with Godzilla for a new capsule collection inspired by the theme “Play Together”.
Launching on 1 September 2026, the limited-edition collection will be available at selected Lacoste stores across the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together the brand’s signature crocodile with Japan’s long-standing King of the Monsters.
Since first appearing on screen in 1954, Godzilla has become one of Japan’s most recognisable pop-culture figures, appearing across films, animation, games and merchandise. For this collaboration, the character is reinterpreted alongside Lacoste’s crocodile in a series of graphics that play with the contrast between the two icons.
Kaiju Roll-Call

Godzilla is joined by several familiar faces from the franchise, including King Ghidorah, Mothra and the Mothra Larvae. Rather than presenting the characters in their usual larger-than-life roles, the collection places them in more playful interactions with Lacoste’s crocodile, creating a lighter take on the kaiju universe.
The capsule covers a selection of everyday pieces, including T-shirts, polo shirts and hoodies. Graphic treatments give each character a distinct presence, while a specially created crocodile motif incorporates Godzilla’s distinctive dorsal fin into the Lacoste design.
The collaboration also reflects the increasingly fluid relationship between fashion and popular culture, with established brands turning to familiar characters and entertainment properties to create collections that appeal across generations. Here, Lacoste’s sporting heritage and French aesthetic meet a character whose cultural reach has extended well beyond Japanese cinema.
Convergence Of Icons

The “Play Together” concept provides a common thread throughout the collection, focusing on the unexpected interaction between the two brands’ respective icons. The resulting designs move away from a conventional character merchandise approach, instead using the crocodile and kaiju characters as elements within Lacoste’s own visual language.
For long-time Godzilla fans, the collection brings together several recognisable characters from the franchise, while the Lacoste silhouettes give the designs a more contemporary wardrobe context. The mix also introduces the collaboration to a wider audience, particularly younger consumers familiar with Godzilla through its more recent appearances across film and popular culture.
The Lacoste and Godzilla capsule collection launches September 2026 at selected Lacoste stores across APAC and will be available for a limited time.
