
LAS PIN̈AS CITY — University of Perpetual Help women’s volleyball team head coach Sandy Rieta unveiled his new recruits for the upcoming 102nd season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
On Monday, Rieta introduced open hitter Edel Mae Valdez from Posorrubio, Pangasinan; middle blocker Andrea Louisse Basa from Narra, Palawan; Ella Mae Ruga from Immaculate Conception Academy in Dasmarin̈as, Cavite; Zyra Lanot from Quezon City; Mhyka Caballero, Jaslynne Keyser from Perpetual Help Molino campus; Yumiko Abundo from Perpetual Help Binan; and Caitlin Howard from Malayan College in Canlubang.
Rieta said all new players are eligible to play for five years with the Lady Altas.
'I'm still waiting for three more players coming from the national championship, I've already talked to the kids and their parents,” Rieta said during a practice session at the Home of the Altas gym in Barangay Pamplona 3 on Monday.
Rieta said the new players have been practicing with the mainstays of the team such as Cyrille Almeniana, Jody Lozano, Jemalyn Menor, Camille Bustamante, Loraine Lagmay, twins Nicollete and Nicole Jhane Gaa and team captain Charise Enrico.
The Lady Altas finished with a bronze medal in Season 101 after defeating San Beda in the battle for third place. They ended the elimination round with 11 wins and 2 losses and are looking to remain in title contention this year.
Shaila Omipon and Fianne Ariola, meanwhile, skipped their remaining playing eligibility for personal reasons while Pauline Reyes completed her playing years in the league and is set to graduate on July 2, 2026 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
