
MANILA, Philippines — MIGUEL Ricardo Lagac III and Claudwin Seven Tonacao ruled their respective categories in the Philta National Age Group Championships which concluded Monday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
The third-seeded Lagac III, the 2025 PCA Open Juniors U16 champion, shocked No. 2 France Vhiele Dilao, 6-1, 6-1, to claim the U18 title.
No. 8 Tonacao, on the other hand, pulled off a 6-4, 6-3 upset win over No. 3 Jan Caleb Villeno in the boys' U14 final.
Other winners were No. 1 Krels Jan Gecosala over No. 6 Cristiano Calingasan, 6-2, 6-0 (U16) and No. 1 Yuan Torrente over No. 2 Francis Jayvee Dimzon, 6-4, 6-2 (U12).
In the girls division, second seed Shaner Gabaldon stunned No. 1 Ella Mhae Paglalunan, 7-5, 7-6 (0), to clinch the U14 title in the Grand Slam-category event supported by Tecnifibre and Philippine Sports Commission.
National team mainstay Stefi Marithe Aludo took the U18 title over No. 2 Jana Jelena Nicole Diaz, 7-5, 6-3; No. 1 Kathlyn Bugna beat No. 3 Ava Banson, 6-1, 6-0, to capture the U16 title, while CS Donnarose Olavides survived No. 3 Mikaela Kate Chavez, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, to win the U12 title. TMT
