LAHAD DATU: Lahad Datu is seen as a suitable district to expand the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) because of its large plantation area.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal, said TVET is the best method in creating bright opportunities for students and the government plans to further empower this field.

He said, looking at the challenges these days, many graduates had yet to find a job after completing their studies.

“The plan to overcome unemployment of graduates is to reveal opportunities in the fields of industry and plantations,” he said during a working visit and site audit for the proposed establishment of a Melaka Technical University Learning Centre (UTeM) at the Lahad Daut Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) recently.
