LABUAN: A landslide from Merinding Hill temporarily blocked the main road along Jalan OKK Daud in Kampung Merinding this morning.

The Labuan Fire and Rescue Department reported no casualties from the incident.

Director Abdul Rahman Ali said the landslide, believed caused by continuous rain, was reported at 10.38 am.

A team from the Layanan fire and rescue station was immediately deployed to the scene.

“The landslide obstructed the road and made it impassable to vehicles,” Abdul Rahman told Bernama.

Following a safety assessment, the situation was brought under control by 10.59 am.

Clearing works were conducted with assistance from the Public Works Department, Labuan Corporation and concession company Lintasan Resources.

A wheeled excavator was deployed with support from members of the Civil Defence Force.

The road was subsequently reopened to traffic, with the operation ending at 11.17 am.
