MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Lito Lapid on Monday called his fellow senators to find "common ground" so they could continue to work despite the current political tensions.
Lapid issued the statement after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. asked Congress to pass urgent tax relief legislation and key governance reforms.
"In this time of great challenges to our economy, health, safety, and peace, our countrymen need a government that is focused on governance, not politicking," Lapid said in a statement.
"We accept the challenge of the President and of our fellow Filipinos to urgently pass legislation that will provide solutions to the needs of our nation," he added.
