
SANDAKAN: Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with Sandakan Tourism Association (STAN), launched the latest brochure directory - “A Guide to Sandakan” as part of efforts in promoting interstate travel to Sabah and in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.
It was launched by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac), Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan at Motac Bersama Komuniti program in Bandar Ramai-Ramai, here, Saturday.
Also present were Karamunting Assemblyman, Datuk George Hiew Vun Zin, Motac Secretary General, Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, Director Tourism Malaysia Sabah, Haryanty Abu Bakar, STAN President, Chee Kim Teo, local leaders and others.
Khairul said the directory brochure of Sandakan is part of promotional tools to encourage domestic and international visitors to plan their holiday or even weekend getaway to Sandakan.
He said the brochure directory also offers variety of interests, offering an enticing blend of stunning natural landscapes, diverse flora and fauna, adventure activities, rich cultural experiences and gastronomy in Sandakan.
“From cosying up with the orangutan in the wild, to coming up close with the Bornean Sun Bears, the mascot of Visit Malaysia Year 2026,” he said.
With the blend of wildlife and adventure, unique local eats and fresh seafood, Sandakan is the ideal getaway to explore the state of Sabah,” he added.
In another development, he said, Batu Sapi also has unique tradition and has a big potential in community based tourim such as homestay at the island (kampung) in Batu Sapi area that need to look further where it also can be a new attraction to tourists who came to Sandakan.
