  • Lauren Sánchez Bezos has opened up about her dyslexia diagnosis after learning she had the learning disability at 19 years old.
  • She joined the Today show Tuesday to promote her children's book, The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea, which she hopes will encourage parents to read to their children.
  • Speaking of her own diagnosis, she said, “My community college teacher got me tested. She literally looked at me, because I was like, ‘I can’t write,’ and she goes, ‘You’re not dumb, you just can’t spell. You were learning differently.’”
  • Sánchez Bezos said she hid her disability for years, even during her time reporting on air. “Even when I was a news anchor, no one knew I was dyslexic except my co-anchor [Rick Garcia]. And he would help me,” she said.
  • She continued, “He would see a word on the screen, and I’m going like this,” she said while making a face, “and he was, like, whispering in my ear.”
