Former Brighton and Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes the Reds will be too strong this weekend.

The match will mark Roberto de Zerbi's first in charge of Brighton.

Lawrenson told The Argus: “It will be a good game of football.

“I think Liverpool will win 2-0.

“They are not at a stage where they run teams ragged yet. They are just warming up.

“Thiago is massive for Liverpool because he pushes the buttons for everybody.

“But they have got such a choice of players up front it's staggering.

“I'm going to this game and the really interesting thing is how much time has the Brighton manager had with his players – as in all of them together?

“Not very much. He must have been 24 hours a day watching clips of games this season to get an idea of how they play.

“It will be interesting to see in his first game if he wants to play a little bit differently.

“He knows he has got the basis of a very good side and it's an extremely well-run club, well-supported, everything about it is good and, over the years in the Premier League, they have kept improving, which is the way it has to be.

“We won't really know about De Zerbi until maybe six, ten games down the road.

“But I can't think he will go to Liverpool and say, 'Just go out and enjoy it and attack them from all angles'.

“I don't think that would be a good idea, in all honesty.

“I think you'll get a very honest display from Brighton. You always do with a new manager.

“But it's not the same because the old manager isn't there. Things are different."
