Kota Kinabalu: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) which was ticked off by Sabah Umno as being ungrateful for helping make former party head Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat chief minister in 2001, blamed the party for Sabah’s current infrastructure problems.

LDP Treasurer General Vincent Chin blamed Sabah Umno's leadership under Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, of neglecting infrastructure and prioritising political manoeuvring over the state's development.

He claimed there was a significant deterioration in Sabah's infrastructure under Bung’s tenure as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Works.

Chin cited deteriorating roads, persistent water supply problems and stalled development projects as evidence of this neglect.

He also condemned Sabah Umno's failed "Kinabalu Move" in 2023 to topple Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor's government.

Chin described the action as reckless, destabilising, and prioritising political ambition over the well-being of Sabahans.

Addressing Umno's claims regarding Chong’s appointment, Chin refuted it was a personal favour, stating it was based on merit and the BN's Chief Minister rotation system.

Chin urged Sabah Umno to take responsibility for past mismanagement and cease rewriting history.

He called for the party to allow the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government to focus on rebuilding Sabah, emphasising the need for accountability and progress over political distractions.

The LDP's stance firmly supports holding Sabah Umno accountable while advocating for stability and development under the current administration.
