Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk Chin Su Phin (pic) said dissolving the State Legislative Assembly on Monday was timely, as any delay could fuel public confusion from fake news circulating on social media.
He said the early dissolution before the Nov 11 deadline would bring clarity and stability, praising Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for making the right call.
Chin urged young voters to be cautious about online misinformation, noting that around half of the content on social media is false and spreads rapidly without effective laws to curb it.
He said Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s (GRS) continued cooperation with the Pakatan Harapan-led Federal Government was essential to sustain development and maintain Sabah’s progress, citing benefits from the state’s collaboration with Petronas.
Chin added that while some voters prefer local-based politics, it was more pragmatic to work with the current Federal Government until the next parliamentary election to ensure stability and continued growth for Sabah.
