Leeds United are set to beat Manchester United to the signing of PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo.
Leeds have agreed personal terms with Gakpo and are now in talks with PSV regarding their £30million asking price, says the Mirror.
The Whites are set to beat Manchester United to Gakpo's signature after an impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign.
Erik ten Hag wanted to sign both Gakpo and Brazilian winger Antony in the summer - but Manchester United were unable to stump up the funds with Ajax cranking up their demands for their star asset to £86million. Leeds had hoped to complete a deadline day move for Gakpo, sending a private jet to the Netherlands in hope of securing a deal.
However, PSV technical director John de Jong reportedly blocked the move - a call that has now seen the two parties part ways.
Reports suggest Gakpo now needs to be sold to balance the books after the Dutch club failed to qualify for the Champions League.
