Leeds United's plans for Cincinnati striker Brendon Vazquez have stalled.

Forbes journalist James Nalton reports the 23-year-old could not move to England until he is capped by the United States national team.

A Premier League post-Brexit rule change that year makes it difficult for overseas players to be granted permission to join UK clubs. While those aged 18 and above in Europe's top five leagues are always granted a visa, those outside that bracket are not.

Another qualifying factor is if a player has been capped for an international side ranked in the top 50 by FIFA.

As Vazquez has not yet earned a call-up for the US - who are 14th on the list - it makes his chances of moving to Leeds slim.
