IPOH, Aug 12 — The Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) has lodged reports with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over the dissemination of various allegations against the corporation, its management and certain individuals linked to the organisation.

In a statement, PKNPk said it was aware of several posts by a Facebook page which had recently been continuously publishing various serious allegations against PKNPk and its management.

The corporation said the dissemination of allegations that were not based on verifiable facts could potentially damage the reputation and credibility of PKNPk and related parties, as well as undermine the confidence of investors, stakeholders and the general public.

As a state-owned development agency, PKNPk said it respected the right of any party to voice opinions, provide views and make criticisms through the appropriate channels, but such freedom should not be abused.

“In this regard, PKNPk lodged several reports and complaints with police and MCMC between July 30 and Aug 3 regarding the dissemination of the allegations,” the statement, posted on PKNPk’s official Facebook page, said.

PKNPk also said it had sought legal advice and would take appropriate action to protect the organisation’s interests, reputation and integrity against any party that published or disseminated false or defamatory statements, or statements that violated the law.

“PKNPk will continue to focus on fulfilling its mandate and responsibilities as the state’s development agency, guided by the principles of integrity, accountability and the interests of Perak,” the statement said. — Bernama
