Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers was delighted for James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira after victory over Tottenham.

The influential Maddison captained the side in the absence of Jonny Evans and Youri Tielemans, who picked up a calf injury ahead of the game, while there was a welcome return for Foxes favourite Pereira following a long-term Achilles injury that has kept him out since pre-season.

He is a real leader," the Northern Irishman said on City's No.10. He's developed and grown on and off the pitch in the time I've been here and he was worthy of taking the team out and being captain. You see him in the game, organising and he really understands football. He's an inspiration for his team and I thought it was a fantastic performance."

You sense the crowd when he (Ricardo Pereira) came on. For him to get back, he's worked so hard. To have a player of that quality available for us, is fantastic. It just keeps pushing us, everyone has got to perform, with players coming back, adding competition to the squad.

We've still got a bit to go but winning today is a big reward for us."
