Level 1 hot weather alert in 10 areas in Peninsular Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 - Ten areas in Peninsular Malaysia recorded Level 1 hot weather conditions, or the alert category, at 4pm today, said the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a statement, it said the areas are Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas and Machang in Kelantan, and Jerantut, Temerloh and Maran in Pahang.

Also affected are Kinta (Perak), Gombak (Selangor), Jempol (Negeri Sembilan) and Segamat (Johor).

According to MetMalaysia, Level 1 status is issued when the daily maximum temperature reaches between 35°C and 37°C for at least three consecutive days.
