Leviste opts to "stay quiet" following portrait removal of mother

MANILA, Philippines —  Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste has declined to comment on the removal of the portrait of his mother. Sen. Loren Legarda, from Assumption College's "Wall of Empowered Women,".

Instead, he just revealed a detail in his message to the query made by The Manila Times in his official media group.

"Huwag daw akong makisawsaw sa mga isyu sa Senado kung sino ang tinatakot, sino ang may itinatago, sino ang dinidiktahan ng donors, etc. Tatahimik ako muna, (I was told not to meddle in the Senate issues regarding who is being threatened, who is hiding something, who is being dictated to by donors, etc. I will stay quiet for now)," Leviste said.

Legarda's portrait was removed on Friday by the Assumption College student council, stressing that she "no longer reflect the values that Assumption upholds.”

“Recognition within our institution must reflect not only achievement, but also character, responsibility and moral courage,” they said
